Eames/Bradley

Having overcome the apparent shock of what the lovely folk at MI5 had to tell them about the organisation’s operations in Northern Ireland Lord Eames and Denis Bradley and their group continued their consultations.

The Consultative Group on the Past have, however, been refused an audience with the leadership of the IRA.

In the past many people died trying to avoid audiences with the IRA, others died during such audiences, but the IRA’s refusal to deal with Eames/Bradley (combined with its faux pass over whether the ‘Troubles’ was a ‘war’) is surely the kiss of death to the credibility of the group or any possibility that its report might carry some weight in terms of helping Northern Ireland come to terms with its past.
